Lesson 2 of 9
Name it plainly
About 5 min
The goal
Practice Describe: turning fuzzy feelings into plain, factual words.
Do it step by step
- 1
Think of something that happened today that stirred a feeling.
- 2
Describe only the facts first: who, what, where — like a camera recording.
- 3
Now add the feeling as a fact too: "I noticed anger show up" instead of "it was so unfair."
- 4
Notice how describing it changes the feeling's grip, even slightly.
For parents
Model it yourself: describe your own moment factually first. Teens copy what they hear far more than what they're told.
