Emotion Regulation

Lesson 4 of 9

Name it: body clue detective

About 5 min

The goal

Use body signals to find the name of a feeling.

Do it step by step

  1. 1

Scan from head to toe. Note any tension, heat, heaviness or buzzing.

  2. 2

Pick a feeling word that might fit: mad, sad, scared, glad, ashamed.

  3. 3

    Rate it 0–10.

  4. 4

    Say: "I notice I'm feeling ___ at about ___."

For parents

Many neurodivergent teens find naming feelings hard (alexithymia). A feelings wheel or colour chart is a great aid.
